Saturday morning began with strolling in the park. Here you see Max working with a man who was doing calligraphy on the concrete. Next, Max was fascinated with these older people who were congregated singing in harmony under the trees (you see the one man accompanying them with the accordion).

No, the translator is not kissing Joy's ear. This is a picture of Joy speaking with Mom and all the siblings on the telephone. Evidently she became very nervous when she did not know what to say in English (and we ran out of things to say after, "Nihao Ma"). Max said she was pacing back and forth trying to think of what to say. Pan, the translator would whisper words in her ear to say to us. It was very fun for us to hear her voice. Sunday morning, Saturday night (California time) we actually got to speak with her computer to computer through Skype! This really made the siblings excited. It made it ESPECIALLY difficult to say "goodbye".
If you know Max, you know that he likes to meet and talk with everyone he sees. You can see this even happened in the park. Max told the translator, and Joy, how his boys get frustrated with how long it takes to go somewhere with Dad, because he is always talking to people. Joy smiling said, "Yes, I feel the same way".
